Voice Point

Learn how the Voice point can be used to interact with Mobile Data Anywhere and see it in action with the sample projects.

What is the Voice point?

The Voice point can be used to record voice or audio and save it in a session as an audio file. This can be used to conveniently record information by talking instead of typing or to record a sound that would otherwise have to be described by typing.

Key Features

  • Record voice or sound and save it to a session.
  • Recordings can be paused and resumed while a session is in progress.
  • Audio can be played on the device to preview the saved audio.

Recording audio

To record audio to a Voice point, simply press the Record button to start recording. While recording, a volume meter will be displayed in the voice point to indicate the decibels being detected by the microphone. The Pause button will temporarily pause the recording, allowing you to continue recording by pressing the Record button again. When finished recording, tap the Save button to save the recording to the session. The Voice point will then display buttons that allow you to preview the recording using the Audio Playback mode .

Android devices with operating systems prior to Jelly Bean 4.1 will not be able to pause and resume recordings. This functionality is only accessible in newer versions of the Android operating system.

Audio Playback

When the Voice point contains saved audio, the playback mode will be displayed which allows you to listen to the saved audio by tapping the Play button. If the audio is unsuitable, the audio can be cleared by tapping the Clear button and confirming that you want to delete the saved audio data. A new recording can be made using the Record button.
